GQuuuuuuX:Speculating on the World After the Ending: Challia Bull Becomes Char, and Sayla Becomes Haman

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX(Official)” is a TV anime that aired on the Nippon TV network from April 9, 2025, to June 25, 2025. The director was Kazuya Tsurumaki, famous for “FLCL” and “Gunbuster 2!”

Personally, I think the series came to a magnificent conclusion, but it was also the kind of ending that makes you ponder what happens “after.” So this time, I’d like to speculate on what the future holds after “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX.”

This speculation is based on the following assumption, or “fact”:

A Baoa Qu and its military forces, blown away by Yomagn’tho, remain lost.

This might seem like an obvious assumption, but some caution is needed. The world of “GQuuuuuuX” depicts two types of Xeknova Phenomena: one that moves things to a different location within the same world line, and one that connects to the “other side.” While Yomagn’tho’s case seems to be the latter, it hasn’t been definitively confirmed. That’s why I’ve labeled it an “assumption.”

After all, even Char, who we thought had gone to another world (the other side) during the first Xeknova, was simply transported to a different location (which we later learned was due to Lalah’s desire to save him).

And if we stand on this assumption, the aftermath of “GQuuuuuuX” unfortunately seems destined to be tragic. As the article title suggests, I believe Challia Bull will become the new Char, and Sayla (Artesia) will become the new Haman.

By saying they will “become” them, I’m implying a negative future. From here, I’ll detail my thoughts.

Audio Summary by AI

Let an AI walk you through the highlights of this post in a simple, conversational style.

  • The Dark Future of Challia and Sayla
With the loss of A Baoa Qu’s forces, Zeon becomes militarily inferior, and the world plunges back into an era of conflict. Challia Bull, who rejected Char, transforms into a new “Char” due to his own “nihilism” and “arrogance,” while Sayla, forced into a difficult leadership position, becomes like “Haman.”
  • The Hopeful Conclusion of the Protagonists’ Story
In contrast to the grim future predicted for the world, the story of the protagonists, Machu and Nyaan, concludes with hope. It is suggested that they will overcome their pasts and live strongly towards the future, reaching a redemptive ending separate from the world’s political turmoil.
  • An Homage to the Original Gundam and the Argument Against a Sequel
The conclusion, where the protagonists’ future is hopeful despite the world’s turmoil, is a brilliant homage to the “hope” inherent in the original “Mobile Suit Gundam.” Although opinions may vary, a sequel should not be made to protect this ending.

Challia Bull, Who Believes He’s Always Right, and Sayla, in an Unwanted Position

The “Char-like” Quality That Lies Beyond Rejecting Char -Challia Bull-

I think the biggest misdirection in “GQuuuuuuX” was how it seemed Challia Bull sought Char as an “ally” (I thought so too).

However, the final episode revealed that his true intention was “to reconfirm that Char was ‘unfit’ and then eliminate him.”

I believe the deciding factor for Challia Bull to “eliminate” Char was the following line from Char:

It’s apparent to me… It would be dangerous for you to lead Zeon! Sooner or later, you’ll end up annihilating the humans livig on Earth.

Immediately after Char’s line, Challia Bull began his attack on Char, saying:

I can tell. It is dangerous for you to lead Zeon. Someday, like Kycilia, you will resort to purging the people living on Earth. The ‘nihilism’ you wear tells me so!

For those of us who know “Char’s Counterattack,” this line has a bit of humor, but his assertive tone is what I find unsettling.

The “nihilism” Challia Bull speaks of is precisely what he himself was cloaked in. He intended to stop his own influence from continuing by “being judged by a military tribunal and dismissed from service (likely anticipating a death sentence).” However, he concluded that “Char is unaware of his ‘nihilism,’ so he must be forcibly removed.

Considering Char’s frustrating life in the “official Gundam series,” Challia Bull’s point is understandable. Yet, he is easily persuaded by Exabe and decides to support a Zeon led by Artesia.

In the end, a figure cloaked in “nihilism” has remained on the front lines.

Furthermore, Char, who casually speaks of “guiding humanity to a better era,” and Challia Bull, who declares, “I can tell. It is dangerous for you to lead Zeon,” seem to share a clear common trait: “arrogance.”

Throughout the series, Challia Bull is depicted as having outstanding insight as a Newtype. This justifies his judgment of Char, but he only has excellent insight, not the ability to see the future. If he could, things would have gone more his way. The fact that they didn’t suggests that his judgment of Char at that stage was also a manifestation of his “arrogance.”

And even with the Zabi family effectively gone and Artesia leading Zeon, a world where Newtypes don’t have to fight won’t arrive immediately.

In the first place, with the massive military force of A Baoa Qu gone, the military balance with the Earth Federation is completely lost, and the Federation is likely watching and waiting for a chance at revenge. To simply ensure Zeon’s prosperity, they would have had to blow away Earth with Yomagn’tho, as Kycilia had planned.

No matter how you look at it, after the end of “GQuuuuuuX,” an era of war will return. And disgusted by such a situation, wouldn’t Challia eventually resort to a purge of humanity? After all, he is cloaked in “nihilism.”

An Extremely Difficult Situation and Growing Frustration with Char -Artesia Som Deikun-

It seems that in the world of “GQuuuuuuX,” Sayla was an ace pilot for the Federation Forces, but she ultimately ended up leading Zeon as Artesia Som Deikun.

However, her situation is incredibly difficult. As mentioned earlier, the forces of A Baoa Qu are lost, and there’s still a possibility that members of the Zeon military who were devoted to the Zabi family remain.

Domestic politics alone will not be easy, and the Earth Federation will not remain silent. Whoever stands at the top of Zeon will be at the mercy of a Universal Century that is once again heading for turmoil.

Of course, Artesia probably chose this difficult path of her own will. But on very rare occasions, just for a moment, she might think of her brother Casval (Char Aznable), who is off having a good time with Lalah, and think, “That bastard, taking it easy!

On the other hand, Char, growing impatient that the “age of Newtypes” never seems to arrive, might try to contact Artesia.

By then, he would have been thoroughly “educated” by Lalah, so I don’t think it would be like when he appeared before Haman in “Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam,” but the act of making contact itself is the problem.

Seeing Char’s attitude, wouldn’t Artesia become angry, stubborn, and lose her flexibility? Just like Haman.

What Char needed to do in “Zeta Gundam” was to say, “Haman, I was wrong, let’s start over with Mineva and me!” and begin a new life. But in “GQuuuuuuX,” the important thing is to “do nothing.

I assume Lalah would probably stop him, but I can’t help but think about these things.

Well, that’s basically my “after story.” To sum it up in one sentence: “Just like the official Gundam world line, an endless hell begins.

Thinking this way brings a gloomy feeling, but the important thing to note is that Machu and Nyaan do not appear in what I’ve written so far.

I Hope There’s No Sequel to “GQuuuuuuX”

No Worries for Machu and Nyaan

When thinking about “GQuuuuuuX,” it’s easy to focus on “what is that world like” or “what will become of that world,” but we must not forget that the protagonist of that story was Machu.

And Machu’s story came to a magnificent end, I believe. It concludes with the line, “Gundam says we’ll meet again someday,” which could be interpreted as a lingering attachment or affection for Shuji.

However, the key is that she says this line directly to Nyaan. This means that Machu’s feelings for Shuji have been properly sublimated, and her words do not stem from lingering attachment or regret.

Come to think of it, “Shuji” was the one who led Machu and Nyaan to “somewhere other than here,” and the two of them successfully set off for that “somewhere other than here” (though they are still wanted fugitives).

I believe that even after this, Machu will continue to live strongly while having various experiences on what she calls her “journey to find Shuji,” and Nyaan might be with her.

In any case, it’s presumed that the two will live on positively and strongly, so there are no worries about their “after story.” That’s why the “gloomy speculation” I wrote above didn’t include Machu and Nyaan.

For me, the ending of “GQuuuuuuX” was very good, and I think that’s because it made me feel that “the world the protagonist lives in will be in turmoil, but Machu will still live strongly.

A Brilliant Homage to “Mobile Suit Gundam” as an Ending

Let’s consider that ending a little more by comparing it to “Mobile Suit Gundam.”

The “official Gundam” world line continued with sequels after “Mobile Suit Gundam,” resulting in the depiction of an endless war. There’s a certain sense of resignation towards humanity floating in it.

Well, since real-world humanity has yet to overcome war, it’s partly understandable, but I also wish for at least one depiction of “hope.”

But then I remember that the original “Mobile Suit Gundam” seemed to depict that very “hope.”

First and most importantly, the One Year War properly ended. And the wonderful thing about that ending is that Amuro Ray, who was caught up in the war and effectively lost his father and mother, became strongly aware of the existence of a “place to return to.”

If we assume “Mobile Suit Gundam” had no sequels, I think we could have imagined the “subsequent political turmoil” just as I did in this article. On the other hand, what kind of future could we have imagined for Amuro Ray?

Seeing that ending, wouldn’t you have thought, “A lot happened, but Amuro Ray will live on strongly“? And the same would likely be true for Bright, Mirai, Katz, Letz, and Kikka. In other words, although “Mobile Suit Gundam” ultimately became the beginning of an “endless hell,” I believe its ending certainly contained “hope.”

Thinking about it this way, couldn’t we say that the ending of “GQuuuuuuX,” which made us feel that “Machu and Nyaan will surely live on strongly,” was the best possible homage to “Mobile Suit Gundam”?

Please, No Sequel

This time, I’ve considered the aftermath of the “GQuuuuuuX” ending. In short, I think it boils down to: “Politically, it’s bound for turmoil, but Machu and the others will live on strongly.”

And if a sequel were made, it could end up like the “official Gundam” world line. That is, the very existence of Machu and Nyaan would be thrown into turmoil, and the “hope” that was there would be lost.

Because it was such a good ending, I can’t say I don’t want a sequel, but I truly hope one is never made.

What does everyone else think?
